The Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) is the largest marketplace in Japan, also is one of the largest marketplaces in the worldwide. It is located in Tokyo, Japan. It is a non-profit organization, and regulates trading of commodities in Japan by futures and options. In November 1984, the TOCOM was formed by the merger of the Tokyo Rubber Exchange, the Tokyo Textile Exchange and the Tokyo Gold Exchange. In December 2008, TOCOM demutualized and transforming into a corporation, changed its name as Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc.
The TOCOM offers an electronic trading system to trade contracts for gold, silver, rubber gas oil, gasoline, crude oil, kerosene, palladium, and platinum for investors. The Market participants of TOCOM are investment banks, trading companies, proprietary trading firms, individual speculators, commodity index funds, and overseas investment funds.
